UTAM commends the University of Toronto for spearheading and signing the “Investing to Address Climate Change” charter, which calls on Canadian universities to incorporate ESG factors into their investment practices.

U of T and McGill University initiated the charter, and more than a dozen other universities have joined the effort. Signatories agree to abide by principles and practices such as the adoption of a responsible investing framework, regularly measuring the carbon intensity of their investment portfolios and setting meaningful targets for their reduction over time, and evaluating progress towards these goals.

UTAM, which manages more than $10 billion in pension, endowment and other funds on behalf of U of T, looks forward to continuing to work closely with the university to take decisive action on climate change.
